Location: The Republic of Nigeria is located in the West African region, it is bordered to the north by the Republic of Niger, to the east by the Republic of Chad and the Republic of Cameroon, to the west by the Republic of Benin, and its southern coast overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, with an area of 923,769 square kilometres. The embassy is located in Abuja, the federal Capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and it was established as a substitute for the ancient capital, Lagos, the sea port and the largest commercial city in the country.
Administrative divisions: The administrative status of the national capital region differs from the remaining 36 states of the country, where it is managed by a federal minister who appoints the president of the republic and does not have its own parliament, but it has representatives in the Senate and Federal Representatives who are chosen during the legislative elections that take place every four years.
People: Nigeria has a population of about 200 million people and includes 250 ethnic groups who speak about 500 different languages and belong to diverse cultures and the three most important tribes are Hausa - Fulani in the north and Ibo in the southeast and the Yoruba in the southwest region and these three tribes constitute more than 50 per cent of the population. Muslims and Christians make up more than 90 per cent of the population.
