The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Dr. Ali bin Ghanem Al-Hajri, hosted a reception on the occasion of Qatar National Day 2024 at the mission headquarters in Abuja.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, H.E. Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and National Planning, H.E. Sen. Uba Sani, Executive Governor of Kaduna State, H.E. Dr. Nasir Sani Gwarzo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, H.E. Ben Okoyen, Chief of Protocol at the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as number of Heads of Diplomatic missions and International Organizations, and senior officials of the Nigerian Federal Government.
In his speech, the Ambassador reviewed the friendly relations between Qatar and Nigeria, referring to the fruitful visit of His Excellency the Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Doha last March, which resulted in the signing of 7 agreements and MoUs, consolidating the progress of relations, political rapprochement and mutual understanding between the two countries. His Excellency also pointed out that Qatar’s developmental and charitable projects have reached 12,000 projects in Nigeria during the past decade, in addition to the services of Qatar Airways, which operates daily flights to 4 destinations in Nigeria.
For his part, His Excellency the Chief of Protocol spoke about the State of Qatar and its strong relationship with the Republic of Nigeria, stressing that it is characterized by friendliness and mutual understanding. The Chief of Protocol praised the State of Qatar, its leadership and people, for the achievements it has made in various fields, noting that the country has become a role model in progress and infrastructure development. He also congratulated the State of Qatar on the occasion of this year's National Day, wishing it further progress and prosperity.
